Renting PC equipment

Post by kernal »

Does anyone here know of a company that rents PC peripherals?

I'm looking to rent a decent quality negative/slide scanner for a few days. Whilst clearing out the attic I found a couple of hundred old negatives that I thought had been lost.

A decent negative scanner will cost me £400+ to buy buta I don't want to spend cash on something I'll only use once, plus I'm skint!

I've got one here (Canon FS4000) you could borrow if you like - I'm not using it at the moment since I kicked the mag work into touch, but it's not easy to get good results with, I'll warn you now, and scanning at full res takes bloody ages... in fact the same goes for all sub £1500 slide scanners in my experience. Dunno if it's worth the 90 minute drive over here though... but a possible option if you don't get any joy anywhere else.

Thanks for the offer, but I suspect it might not be able to scan the negatives I have. They are all B+W 120 negatives (6 x 6cm).

You are sadly correct. 35mm only as far as I know. Oh well.
