USB port

Post by dan »

Wonder if anybody here would know...

My mate's laptop developed a problem with one of his USB ports, and when I looked at it, seemed a bit odd. I've taken a picture to show what I mean:

Any ideas? Seems the white bit that holds the plug in is missing... :?

Pretty common fault to be honest.. The white piece is used to apply presure to the contacts of a plug in device. Sometime they break and you end up with the port being about as much use as a cabbage..

One thing I have noticed is that Mice tend to only use a few inputs so it may still work in tat port.. Failing that your mates got to cough up the dosh for a Usb Hub.

Thanks mate! :)

The port was mainly used for a mouse anyway, but a hub looks like a good idea seeing as he's about to add more to his setup...

The machine is under warranty, but it's mainly due to the amount of work on right now that he doesn't want to take it back just yet.
