NAME:
Christopher Wood

COMPUNET ID:
WOODY (CW14)

WHAT HE DID:
I was quite prolific on the 'Net. I wrote the quite popular COMIX STRIP series that had various famous Cnet personalities on zany adventures such as the Ash Man & Dave strip as well as NETWORK, reviewing movies and games, demos. I was also quite keen on drawing and had my own LORES gallery plus a few hi-res ones. I could never program machine code which meant everything I uploaded was BASIC - my dir contained several homebrew games such as the Hacker series and Software Surpremo (which amusingly popped up in the mid 90's on a C64 compilation disc I bought) which proved quite popular at the time. Plus a few scrolly demos with my art - what would non-coders do without Ian&Mic's Scrolly Creator eh? : ) Oh and I took part in doing the BladeRunners FED dir, sadly everyone left just as FED came online. Bwah!

CLAIM TO COMPUNET FAME:
I remember KYY (I think) ran a most popular users of the month in which EMB1 would analyse the current trends, out of the Top 50 in the second (or first) poll I got voted No.1 which was quite a shocker as I had only been on for two months at the time, my ego even allowed me to remember the text:- "Woody's rise to the top has been metoric" - I guess all those hellos in Partyline helped!!

WHAT'S HE UP TO NOW:
I work for an internet online recruitment company in an admin type slave situation, although I'm hoping to get into the more graphical side of things in the future by doing a course in Multimedia, Flash, Director ect. I run my own videogame website called COSMIC CASTROVALVA which has a C64 section. http://www.ndirect.co.uk/~darkstalker

OTHER STUFF:
Proud to have been a member of Compunet, just wish their were more resources such as screen dumps from the old system on the 'net. It really was a lifesaver for me, as I suffered from bad Acne at the time so tended not to go out unless I really had to. I had a great time meeting loads of people:- I'd love to hear from the likes of Pazza, Hero, Bink, Wizard, Jean, Turtle, EMB1 and the rest of the crew.

TOP THREE FAVOURITE PROGRAMS/HARDWARE:
Ubix's animated page program (forget the name) - The Macromedia FLASH! of it's era!!. Ash 'n Dave's musical partyline program and of course the wonderful world of Valley/Mud. Oh and a special mention for the C64 modem - obviously designed by the Borg.

BETWEEN WHICH DATES WERE YOU A MEMBER OF COMPUNET:
I joined around late 85/early 86 and left in 1988 - sadly enforced by the increased subscription charges and increasing phone bills. Thanks BT.
