NAME:
David Thornber

COMPUNET ID:
SPONG (formally DJT2)

WHAT HE DID:
Uploading of dubious satire to Fogg's spot and creation of the occasional dismal demo. [Dave is being very modest here, he was in fact a very prolific uploader to Fogg's Spot (checkout Dave's page at http://www.thornber.demon.co.uk/ for more evidence) and helped me out on Compunet on many an occasion in my early days]

CLAIM TO COMPUNET FAME:
Fairly well known around Fogg's Spot, pretty much unheard of elsewhere. Probably my greatest moment was when (during the protracted mainframe replacement) I grabbed the Compunet logon screen, rewrote it to read 'Incompetent' and uploaded it on FOGG - that got me more votes of 9 than anything else I ever did

WHAT'S HE UP TO NOW:
Sitting at my office PC pretending to be working. I now 'do the computers' for a company that manufacturers coin counters, working under the catch-all title of 'Computer Manager' (quite what that involves is a mystery, even to me.) Got married last year (97) and now living near Chester.

OTHER STUFF:
You never know your luck with a knitting needle and a duck. On second thoughts, forget that.

TOP THREE FAVOURITE PROGRAMS/HARDWARE:
Dunno about the top 3 programs - after all, I had thousands of them. Shall I just say Wizball and anything by Jeff Minter? (sarcastic git!) By far the best thing to happen to the 64 in my book was Dolphin DOS, which was (I suppose) software as well as hardware.

BETWEEN WHICH DATES WERE YOU A MEMBER OF COMPUNET:
I think I joined around 85-ish, but I wouldn't swear to it. The latest 'logon' screen I have saved is 89, which sounds about right. It was all a very long time ago though.
