NAME:
Peter Hardcastle

COMPUNET ID:
PH24 (but who were the other 23), DRAL (it cost me 10ukp for this JANE)! NETFAX (but I got this one for free). FEEDBACK (I got that one when Jane chucked it), -EDITOR- (I got paid for this one - sometimes)!

WHAT HE DID:
Within my first month I "wrote" a football manager game in AmigaBASIC!!! It was a roaring success, apparently reaching the Hall Of Fame faster than any other program. Later I began to write a roundup each week of all the uploads. This became "Netfax" and was very popular (if I may say so myself). This led to me getting a free account and (I guess) led Jane to recommend me to Nick as her successor. I'm still unsure as to whether this was done as a friendly gesture or (with hindsight) because I'd upset her terribly in some way! ("hehe" - as ID Monty would have said).

As soon as Nick took over, things went down hill. Mind you, I took over as editor at the same time so maybe it was all my fault. Or maybe it was Jane's fault for leaving us all with that crazy man. Like a good captain I hope he went down with his ship. I jumped off a few months earlier. I think Gnome and Top Cat (David) were still around.

Since then my only Cnet contact was a brief meeting with TJ who was at a Commodore (hey [starry eyed look] remember Commodore?) Show up here in Washington CD (County Durham). He popped back to my house for a cuppa and that was where Cnet ended for me... until now.

CLAIM TO COMPUNET FAME:
I enjoyed a spell in the "famous for 15 minutes" category when I was interviewed by a number of Commodore magazines - in the days when there was a number of Commodore magazines. Best one was in Zzap 64 where the interviewer turned out to be from Sunderland (my home city) and he came all the way up from Ludlow to interview me - or did he just do it because he'd come home for the weekend! Anyway the interview appeared complete with photo. Mrs. Dral was very proud.

WHAT'S HE UP TO NOW:
Strangely, just this week I've started out on my second 15 minutes of fame. I have just had a book review and an article published in a Canal Magazine. I have also been commissioned to write a series of canal related articles based on my web site. A guide/book(let) may also follow.

OTHER STUFF:
Jane, I saw you on Sky TV on "Speed" recently. Good to see you.

TOP THREE C64 PROGRAMS/HARDWARE:
Blimey. I suppose the Cnet software could be mentioned!! And things like "Freezeframe" cartridges which allowed you to poke games and transfer (copy) them onto disk. I guess my favourite game was "Emlyn Hugh's Soccer" because it allowed my brother and I to play on the same team (which we did for years until I bought my Amiga - and we still play the Amiga version now)!

BETWEEN WHICH DATES WERE YOU A MEMBER OF COMPUNET:
User: March 1987 to March 1989 - Editor: March 1989 to the end (whenever that was... 1991?)
